Private Pilot Certification in the R22 / R44
Become a Private Pilot.

he Initial Private Pilot Certification will require a minimum of 40 Hrs of aeronautical experience that consists of a least :
- A. Dual : 20 Hrs in a helicopter on the Private Pilot areas of operations that includes at least --
- (1) 3Hrs of cross-country training
- (2) 3 Hrs night training that includes at least --
- a. 1 cross-country flight of over 50 nm total distance, and
- b. 10 takeoffs and 10 landings with each involving a flight in the traffic pattern
- (3) 3 Hrs of flight training in preparation for the practical test within 60 days prior to the practical test
- B. Solo : 10 Hrs on the Private Pilot areas of operations that include at least --
- (1) 1 solo cross-country flight of at least 75 nm total distance with 3 points and one segment of at least 25 nm between takeoff and landing, and
- (2) 3 takeoffs and 3 landings at an airport with an operating control tower
The ground lesson needed is 35 Hrs.
Weather and resources permitting, a dedicated Initial Student, will become a Private Pilot in about 4 months.
The Add-On helicopter rating, will require a minimum of 30Hrs of flight time.However, in order to maximize your safety during your solo time requirement, you will need to demonstrate solid consticency during dual flight training. The ground time required, will be 35 Hrs. The fact that you are already holding a Certificate, combined with your existing knowledge base and aeronautical experience, will serve you well. You can count on saving time and money.
After receiving your private certificate in the R22, becoming a pilot in command in the R44, will take two hours of ground instruction and five hours of aeronautical experience.
